The Mini Olympics (Hockey)

Yesterday some people were selected to play in the Manawatu Hockey Mini Olympics. Our school, College Street Normal School were representing Trinidad and Tobago. The people from our class that got selected to play were; Saphir, Lara, Liam, Tyler G, Carter, Ella, Amber, Brooke and Maya.
Team 1 came 4th just short of the medals.

Group 1 was year 5/6
Group 2 was year 7/8

There was an opening ceremony to start the day. We had to get in our groups and had a short wait until they announced our country "Trinidad and Tobago".  We set off to walk around the twin turfs and then we waited and waited and waited until we got to present information or a rap or chant for our country.

We did a CHANT and the chant went like this...

Trinidad
Trinidad
don't be sad
we aren't bad!

Tobago
Tobago
let us say
 go go go!

T and T
we go BOOM
we are here
to shake the room

who are who are who are we?
we are the team from TNT
Tick tick tick BOOM!

Then we left the twin turfs and not long after we had a game and we vs Bush(Netherlands) and they one then we had a game straight after.YAY it was break time we got to eat and drink and support the other teams of Trinidad and Tobago then that was the day oh wait theres still a bit more.

The closing ceremony was cool we walked around again but only half of the turf then sat down. My heart was pounding until we found out we were 4th but at lest we will have some more competition in the next years.

Half way through the day we got to meet a former black sticks for women's and she went to rio in 2000 and 2004.

That was our hole team

Emily Gaddum's Olympic Presentation

On  Monday Emily Gaddum (nee Naylor) Ex Woman's Blacksticks player came to talk to the senior syndicate about her Olympic Experience. She talked about the power of Striving for Excellence, and that it could get you to the Olympics.

She started talking about her career and how she had made the Women's Black Sticks team when she was 18. Then she talked about how she had come from College St Normal School, P.N.I.N.S and Girls High. The three time Olympian has inspired most of the senior syndicate to GO FOR GOLD in all aspects of life and try as hard as we can to go the Olympics. Thank You Emily!!!!!!!
