We have been learning how to create a Graphic Design. We have made them about Anzac Day to remember those who fought in the War. Some of our designs will be displayed at the 'Gladys Goes to War' Book Launch held at our school later this term. Here are some of our designs.

Weetbix Try

On Thursday we had 32 kids from GRi11 2.0 competing in the Weetbix Try at Ongley Park. The weather was bucketing down and made the run very slippery. We all showed determination and a Go for Gold attitude to complete the distance. All in all we had an absolute blast and can't wait for next year!

GRi11 2.0 Fast Track

GRi11 2.0 Fast Track!
In GRi11 2.0 we have something called a Fast track. Fast track is a digital way to keep track of our learning. It's called fast track because it’s fast to track. It has all our learning activities on it for the week and where to find them.
In fast track the black bit tells us the task, the grey is where it's found (like GC is Google Classroom) and the white is where you put your links to show you have done the task.
When we've done the task we put a shortened URL link of our learning in, to show we've done it next to our name, under the right task.
In fast track the black bit tells us the task, the grey is where it's found (like GC is Google Classroom) and the white is where you put your links to show you are working on a task. We colour the link green when we have finished the task.
Fast track is found on Google Classroom on the GRi11 Home Page, which is the new way we do our learning.
We have a Google Classroom for each learning area. The tasks are put in the classroom related to their topic.
Fast track is a great way to access your learning and to know what you have and haven't done.
I would recommend other schools to use fast track for their learning. That's the GRi11 2.0 Fast track.

Inter-school Triathlon

On Wednesday it was the Inter-school Triathlon. We went down to Skoglund Park and Freyberg pool. We had to run, bike and swim. It was a much tougher course than the school one.
We had lots of representatives from GRi11 2.0 and some amazing results. Cole finished 2nd and Costa 4th, and Amber finished 3rd. Everyone had an awesome day and was 'Going for Gold!'

Here are some photos from the day.

GRi11 2.0 Learning Spaces

This term we are learning all about 'Hauora'. There are four parts of Hauora: Social, Mental and Emotional, Spiritual and Physical.

In Gri11 2.0 we have 4 learning spaces, the Hub (the main room), the Hideout, the Hangout, and the Hall of Fame. We designed and named each room at the start of the year so we could learn comfortably in our class Gri11 2.0. We set up different learning spaces that target different learning styles and the 4 elements of Hauora.

The Hub is the main room and it targets all four walls of Hauora, Physical (red), Mental and Emotional(yellow), Spiritual(blue), and Social(green).

The Hideout is a little side room that targets spiritual and it is a quiet room.

The Hangout a little side room that targets Social/teamwork so people work together in there.

The Hall of Fame is a narrow and long room it targets Mental and Emotional so it is calm in there.

Cole likes learning the Hub because he can't focus in other rooms.
Jacob likes Learning in the Hub so he can work in confined spaces.
Holly likes learning in the Hub so she can talk to her friends about her learning.
Lara likes learning in the Hangout because she likes talking to her friends about her learning.

Did you notice that all of the names start with H?

These are the GRi11 2.0 learning space logos...
The Hub
The Hub is coloured mainly green because it is mostly a 'social' space, but does target the other colours too.

The Hall of Fame
The Hall of Fame is most colours of Hauora because it is Social, Mental and Emotional, Spiritual.
The Hangout
The Hangout is green because it is a social
The Hideout
The Hideout is blue because is is a silent space

Hurricanes at CSNS

Last week we came to school in Black and Yellow and made a video. It was for the More FM 'Mike West in the Morning' competition to win the Hurricanes to visit your school.

Our video got posted onto their website and people could vote on it for 24 hours. We got the most likes- so guess what? That means the Hurricanes will be coming to CSNS this week!!

We are super excited. It was heaps of fun making the mini movie. We can't wait for them to come. Stay posted and we will update you about their visit.

World Wildlife Day Dress Up

On Tuesday the Conservation Club organised a dress up day. We came dressed as an animal and bought a gold coin donation to go towards the Wildbase Recovery.
Mr R was 'on the decks' at Morning Tea, pumping some sweet sounds and it was a 'WILD' party! It was lots of fun getting dressed up. Here are a few photos of the day.

Quikhit Girls Cricket

On Friday some of our GRi11 2.0 girls went down to Ongley Park to take part in the Quikhit Girls Cricket Festival. They played games against other schools and some were lucky enough to get coaching from former Blackcap and current College Street parent Mike Mason.

Most of the girls hadn't played cricket before but they took a risk and ended up having a ball.

Musical Marble Machine

Today at Syndicate Singing Miss G showed us this video of this amazing instrument 'Wintergatan Marble Machine' powered by 2000 marbles. We think it is pretty awesome! What do you think? Maybe we could try and make something ready for marble season...
